ERD Zine Page T-Shirt — Terracotta

Terracotta heavyweight cotton — the only warm-ground piece in the series, a burnt clay color that sits outside the black-and-white logic of everything around it. Dark brown ink. The front looks like something torn from a notebook and transferred directly to fabric, which is more or less what it is.

At the top: the brand name, broken and inverted. On the left, in large type, the word enfants appears mirrored — printed as though you are reading it through the back of the page, the letters flipped, the word legible only if you already know what it says. To its right, in normal orientation: riches. Two words from the same name, one reversed and one not, sitting on the same line at different scales, assembled rather than designed.

Below the type: a framed illustration in the style of a mid-century newspaper drawing or underground comic — two figures in an interior, one seated, one standing or leaning, the background filled with the structural lines of a room or scaffold. To the right of the frame, a standing female figure. The linework is dense and rough, the kind of drawing that was made quickly or made to look that way.

Below the illustration: a zone of mixed text that reads like the contents of someone’s pockets emptied onto a surface. Handwritten passages crowd the right side — dense, small, the individual words legible but the overall text designed to be felt rather than fully read, an interior monologue or a letter that wasn’t meant to be printed. Among the readable elements: ELASTIC CIRCLE in caps; erd inverted to mirror the logic of the word above; déprimés in lower case, the only part of the brand name printed correctly and in full.

Where the black and white pieces in this series operate with photographic precision and deliberate composition, this one operates with the logic of a zine: cut, paste, invert, handwrite, repeat. The terracotta ground makes it warmer and older-looking than the rest — less like a luxury garment, more like something found.
