ERD “Benny’s Video” Pullover Hoodie — Black

The head is a camera. The pig was the rehearsal.

Benny’s Video is a 1992 film by Michael Haneke. Benny is fourteen. He owns a video camera. He watches the world through it — including footage of a pig being killed with a bolt gun at a farm, which he keeps on tape and rewinds repeatedly until death becomes something to study rather than something to feel. Then he kills a girl he just met, films it, and shows the tape to his parents. Haneke’s question, throughout the film, is not whether Benny is a monster. It’s whether the camera made him one, or whether the camera only revealed what was already possible.

The front of this hoodie shows a standing figure with a vintage VHS camcorder where his head should be — body human, skull replaced by lens and chassis. To the right, in pink vertical type: BENNY’S VIDEO. The sleeve carries ERD down its length. The merger of person and recording device is the film’s central image made literal: the camera is not something Benny holds. It is what he sees with. It is what he is.

The back prints the other image from the film: the pig, rendered in high-contrast white on black, blurred and overexposed, the way footage looks when it’s been paused and rewound too many times. Above it: VIDEO. The sleeve continues. The pig was the first death, the one Benny watched until he understood that watching and doing occupy the same moral space.

ERD puts Haneke’s argument on a hoodie. The garment doesn’t say whether it agrees. It just wears the question.
