To vegetate is to live without direction, without urgency, without growth — like a plant, but without the excuse of being a plant. Half Life is a physics term for the time it takes for half of something to decay. It’s also a video game in which the world has ended and you move through the wreckage trying to survive. ERD uses both definitions simultaneously and applies them to two figures who are doing neither — they’re just there, in the half life, vegetating. The garment names this state without judging it.
