ERD Inverted Figure Pullover Hoodie — Heather Gray

The figure on the back is upside down. Everything else is vertical.

On heather gray — the lightest ground in the collection — a large square image dominates the back: a woman, inverted, head down, body open, suspended between falling and floating. The photograph is printed in deep red-orange, the color of a darkroom accident or a film frame pushed past exposure. She is not posed. She reads as caught, or released, depending on how you look at it.

To the left of the image, three letters stacked vertically in heavy black type: E / R / D. Same height as the figure. The letters and the image share the frame without hierarchy — neither explains the other.

The front is quiet: a small circular badge at the left chest, detailed and precise, the kind of emblem you have to look closely to read. The back is where the weight is.

The gray ground is deliberate. Every other piece in this series operates on black or near-black — surfaces that absorb and hide. Gray reflects. The red figure reads differently against light than it would against dark: more exposed, more present, harder to ignore.

ERD puts a body upside down on a gray hoodie and writes their name next to it. The garment doesn’t say why. That’s the point.
