White heavyweight cotton. Black and red print, front, back, and sleeves. ENFANTS RICHES DÉPRIMÉS woven label at the neck.
Front: A dense, ritualistic composition centered on the chest — the most elaborately constructed print in this run.
Upper text: THE LIVING ALTAR — in large, bold condensed caps, slightly distressed or hand-drawn in quality, spanning the upper chest.
Center image: A large cross or cruciform shape rendered in heavily degraded, xerox-style black — thick, blotchy, almost architectural in its mass. Two mirrored oval or circular lens shapes flank the top of the cross — each containing a degraded eye or face fragment, creating a surreal, mask-like quality at the top of the crucifix. The cross form is the structural anchor of the entire front composition.
Flanking text — small handwritten or hand-printed fragments scattered on both sides of the cross:
Two small portrait busts — classical or engraved-style portrait medallions of historical figures — appear embedded in the left and right mid-sections of the cross composition, like stamps or seals from an archive.
Lower text: RITUAL OF CLEANSING — in the same large bold condensed caps as the upper text, centered below the cross. Together with “THE LIVING ALTAR” above, it frames the cross as both a title card and a liturgical instruction.
Sleeves: Both sleeves carry additional print elements — small portrait busts or engraved medallion figures, similar in style to those on the front, printed at intervals along the sleeve length. Left sleeve also carries a small red element — a starburst or geometric mark. The sleeve prints extend the sense of a total-body archive.
Back: A large, primarily red and black composition — dramatically different in color from the front’s black-only palette.
Center-upper: A large, explosive red figure — a winged or robed angelic/divine figure rendered in red, arms extended, radiating energy outward. The figure is rendered in high-contrast silkscreen style — bold, flat, and iconic. Flames, rays, or feathers extend from the figure in all directions, filling the upper back with red.
Overlapping the red figure — a grid of four black-and-white portrait photographs: Four rectangular photo portraits arranged in a 2×2 grid, placed over and partially obscuring the red figure. The portraits are high-contrast xerox prints of long-haired male figures — rock musicians, cultural icons, or anonymous subjects. Each face is frontal or near-frontal — direct and confrontational.
Between or below the portraits: A red cross element — a bold outlined or solid cross shape in red, integrated into the photo grid.
Right sleeve of the back view: Additional engraved portrait medallion and a small red geometric/triangular form, continuing the sleeve print program.
White heavyweight cotton. Oversized/relaxed fit. Long sleeve. Crew neck. Ribbed cuffs.
